Disney+ Cancels Star Wars: The Acolyte After A Single Season

Earlier this year, The Acolyte debuted on Disney+ with impressive streaming numbers. But despite an open-ended conclusion for the first season, Disney+ has reportedly canceled The Acolyte and the Star Wars series will not continue.Via Deadline, the decision to end the series comes just over a month after The Acolyte wrapped up its first season. The show was the first live-action Star Wars project set in the High Republic era and featured Amandla Stenberg in a dual role as twin sisters Osha and Mae. While The Acolyte was an apparent victim of audience review-bombing, that isn’t what ultimately did in the series. The show’s two-episode premiere in June had 4.8 million viewers on the first day, which was the highest Disney+ premiere this year. In the first week, it climbed to 11.1 million viewers. However, The Acolyte’s momentum evaporated after the third episode and it dropped out of the top 10 streaming charts. The season finale returned to the top 10 with 335 million minutes viewed, which may be the lowest ever for a Star Wars finale.Series creator Lesley Headland has shared some of her ideas for The Acolyte Season 2. But unless Lucasfilm decides to pursue that story as a novel or a comic book, the ultimate fate of the surviving characters may not be revealed. All Fortnite Star Wars Skins So FarSee More
